How to Make Money Fast While in College
Introduction
College is expensive. Most students need jobs to afford to pay their rent, food, and entertainment expenses. Before trying to find a job, evaluate your skills. Figure out what jobs you can do well. Decide what rates you will charge for different jobs. There are many ways to make money in college if you put yourself out there. You also need to have some free time in your schedule. Most of the jobs listed are part-time so you should still have plenty of time for your school work and your friends.
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
Step 1
Get a babysitting job. Look on bulletin boards in apartment buildings, stores, and community centers for babysitter wanted ads. Post a bio and your availability to babysit on babysitting websites and on craigslist.
Step 2
Tutor students who need extra help. Decide what subjects you excel in above others. Post fliers around campus and in local elementary and high schools describing your skills and your availability to tutor. Send out emails or Facebook messages to your friends offering your expertise.
Step 3
Find a work-study position in your college. Go to your university’s career center and speak with a career counselor. Getting a job within your school is easier than getting a job in a local store or restaurant because there is less competition and your school has special jobs set aside for their students.
Step 4
Sell your old textbooks. Put up listings on ebay and amazon. Some college’s bookstores will buy used textbooks so try selling them to the bookstore too.
Step 5
Donate plasma. You can have your blood drawn about once a month. Every time you donate you make about $35-$45.
Step 6
Participate in your college’s psychology studies. If your school has a good psych department, there will be many undergrad and grad students who need subjects for their experiments. Psych studies pay you nicely for your time.
Step 7
Take good class notes and sell them. Many students don’t take great notes or they ditch class. Either way, good class notes are often in demand, especially before exams.
Warning
Be careful not to let earning money interfere with your schoolwork.
