How to Change the Firmware on a Seagate Hard Drive

Step 1
Click the Start button on the bottom left corner of the screen. In the window that pops up, click “My Computer” or just “Computer. Another window will show up with an icon for your hard drive. Click the right mouse button on the hard drive icon and press the “Properties” option.” This will tell you what model your hard drive is.
Step 2
Open your internet program. Type in www.seagate.com and hit enter on the keyboard. Wait for the webpage to load. Click the “download” button on the page.
Step 3
Choose the option for the hard drive that you own. This will display a list of the current Seagate hard drive downloads.
Step 4
Locate the Firmware update. Click on the update. Press the “Download” button to start downloading.
Step 5
Open the new Firmware file. Complete the installation by following the download’s directions.
